Leicester’s own Hannah Boleyn confirmed along with soul favourites Heatwave

A budding singer-songwriter from Leicestershire will be sharing centre stage at the Leicester Music Festival this July, alongside big act names including Tinie Tempah, Labrinth and Billy Ocean.

Hannah Boleyn, 24 from Kimcote in Leicestershire, already has a great regional fan base after touring with Leicester-based duo ‘Fingers and Fumbs’ in an array of working men’s clubs and bingo halls, but she is hoping LMF will help her strike a national record deal.

No stranger to the spotlight, Hannah who attended Lutterworth Grammar School,   has also supported high-profile acts including The Overtones, James Morrison and Toploader in Leicester and London, as well as performing her own headline show at The 02 Academy Leicester.

After receiving airplay from BBC Radio Leicester DJ Dean Jackson, Hannah caught the attention of London-based radio plugger Chris Hession, who helped Hannah develop her song writing and her ‘cinematic soul’ sound which has influences from artists such as Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Ray and Shirley Bassey. This resulted in her single ‘When You’re Gone’ being played by national radio DJs Graham Norton and Steve Wright, and eventually being play-listed on BBC Radio 2 last year.

Commenting Hannah said: “LMF is an excellent opportunity for me to get out onto a national stage and share my music – it is fantastic that an event of this calibre is happening in the city and that I get to be a part of it in its first year.

“As well as covering some favourites, I will also be debuting my new single ‘No hard feelings’ and I’m really looking forward to see how it is received on home ground.”

Hannah is not the only local artist who will get the chance to play at LMF. Local band Formal Warning, have also been confirmed to perform at the festival which runs over two days, Friday 25th July and Saturday 26th July. The final rounds of a competition in which local bands battle it out for a chance to perform at LMF is also underway. Play @ LMF has seen over 100 unsigned bands be judged on their performances before entering a series of regional heats which will culminate in two winners in June.

Joining Hannah on Friday will also be soul sensation Heatwave. The 70’s favourites will be performing classics including ‘Boogie Nights’, ‘Always and Forever’ and ‘Mind Blowing Decisions’.

Tickets for LMF are on sale now priced from £45 per person per day and can be purchased from www.theticketfactory.comwww.skiddle.comwww.eventim.co.uk and in person at Visit Leicester (on Gallowtree Gate), the Leicester Tigers’ ticket and the Capital FM Arena, Nottingham.

About LMF

The inaugural Leicester Music Festival will take place on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 July 2014 at the Welford Road Stadium, home of the Leicester Tigers.

The event is the brainchild of two Leicester businessmen, Shane Whitfield and Manoj Keshavji. Shane and Manoj are both passionate about bringing A-list and international music acts to the city, to appeal to a diverse fan base.

With more than £1million invested in bringing star performers to LMF, they hope the event will boost the local economy and put the spotlight on Leicester as an entertainment destination – demonstrating why the city should have clinched the City of Culture crown.

Tickets are on sale now, with corporate and hospitality packages also available via email to: info@lmfmusic.co.uk. For further information:
